SLOTH

I have always thought of sloth as being undesirable, unflattering, lazy, measured in terms of procrastination, leaving things undone, incomplete, and with an unfinished mess. But it occurs to me that there is a great misunderstanding about the nature of the sloth. Though one may be slow at their work, it does not mean that there is not steadfast attention to their work, it instead implies intention direction and presence in every moment of their work. There is a vast depth to this level of understanding, comprehension, and retention. This depth of work then has great application to other areas, linking the world around them to the ideas that they are working with. Through this slow thought process, investigation, connection and ultimately fosters new creation or innovation. Who are the people that are at the forefront of their fields? Are they the fast thinkers with quick wit and many thoughts and ideas who are leading their fields or are they the sloths. And what do the sloths look like, are they slower at the beginning, are they dismissed, thought of as stupid, are they invisible? Do they even understand their own potential for expansion through continuous and concentrated investigation? One may have the classic tale of the Tortoise and the Hare pop into mind. Be patient with thoughts and ideas. Slow and steady allows for room for ideas to fully blossom, grow wings and transcend what we thought was possible.
