LINES: Learning to See
Our world is a visual feast to gaze upon. We are constantly bombarded with visual stimulus. In fact we probably see so much, all the time, that we rarely pause to actually absorb anything! Through simple deconstruction, we can learn to take in the objects that we encounter in any given moment. Every object breaks down into a series of shapes that make them dimensional. Every shape is made of LINE. Lines can be curved or straight or a combination thereof. I like to visualize a line drawing. This is a drawing of a real object, void of color or shading that is generally one continuous line. This kind of drawing points at the idea that our whole world is created by a series of lines that interrupt one another. I think it is a valuable tool for the performer to hone their ability to see the continuous line that exists all around us. In a way it reminds us that everything is connected. Their is a logic and a journey that waits to be discovered in
LINE.
